TRAINING
Each of our athletes has his/her personal program and trains in a group setting. We have athletes with experience ranging from children with no experience to Masters (35 years and up) to athletes competing in the most competitive National competition. Each has his/her own program addressing specific needs of the athlete but we train as a team. Programs are mainly standardized with slight adjustments for beginners and become increasingly individualized as the athlete advances into the intermediate and advanced stages.
We feel that mixing the team together enhances cohesiveness as helps novices learn from advanced lifters and advanced lifters enrich their development in the sport by helping lesser-experienced teammates. This is part of our process, which encourages the athlete to take ownership of their lifting careers. After an initial several sessions during which the athlete will be acquainted with the exercises the athlete will be given the first program and come to train knowing what the program calls for that day, ready to train. Coaches will move from platform to platform working with all the athletes during the training session.
Our training is not limited to lifting, we train our athletes for our sport as an entirety. Learning the rules is critical in every sport for success and we encourage our lifters to become certified judges. Most of our team are certified local judges, we have four National judges and one International Category 2 judge. This enables us to host sanctioned in-house meets and when we travel to meets, we do it all – lifting, coaching and officiating.
SEMINARS and Clinics
Coach Dispenza is a USA Weightlifting Lead Instructor for the USAW Level 1 Certification Course and the USAW Level 2 Certification Course. We host each at our location and we can come to you to host a course. Coach Dispenza also holds seminars and clinics requested by individual clubs, Crossfit boxes and gyms. He will design a clinic/seminar customized to your needs. Please contact us for more information.
